Joe Biden recently stated "Muslim culture has been woven throughout American culture from the very start," but I he was not referring to the most infamous encounters between Muslim pirates and Americans, the Barbary Wars.

Muslim Barbary pirates attacked and captured American ships in the Mediterranean and imprisoned American sailors and America went to war to stop them.
