Unemployment increases by over 1k in a week

After two consecutive weeks of decline, new jobless claims ticked up in the week ended Sept. 5. According to most recent data from the Alabama Department of Labor, 8,902 initial claims were filed between Aug. 30 and Sept. 5 with 4,528 of those related to Covid-19. Between Aug. 23 and 29, 7,823 claims – 4,404 related to Covid – were filed.
