Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has received further encouragement from high-grade results at Gordons Dam prospect within the Gordons Gold Project in the highly prospective Kalgoorlie-Boulder Region of Western Australia. The company has received new downhole fire assay results from reverse circulation (RC) and diamond core drilling at multiple prospects A total of 11 holes for 1,729.8 metres (eight RC holes for 786 metres and three DD holes for 943.80 metres) were completed at the Gordons Dam, Malone and Star of Gordon prospects. At Gordons Dam, RC drilling returned shallow high-grades including 1-metre at 52.81 g/t gold from 35 metres while diamond core drilling returned high-grades including 1.68 metres at 11.94 g/t within 4 metres at 6.65 g/t from 60.32 metres. “Encouraged by exploration to date” Yandal Resources managing director Lorry Hughes said: “We continue to be encouraged by the exploration results to date from Gordons Dam and once the final diamond hole is processed, we will formulate a new interpretation for the high-grade structures to be immediately targeted with RC drilling. “It is clear from the diamond drill core that the holes were oriented in the correct direction to intersect the geological sequence at a perpendicular angle, however, upon receipt of all available data this is likely to be changed to specifically target high-grade mineralisation. “RC and AC drilling is set to resume at Gordons Dam and other priority prospects in the Kalgoorlie region on January 20.” Gordons Dam At Gordons Dam prospect, three angled RC holes for 306 metres were completed in areas adjacent to known mineralisation within shallow palaeochannel sediments, porphyry and mafic rock types to a maximum downhole depth of 132 metres – demonstrating the potential to develop a shallow open pit mine. Key intercepts include: 1-metre at 3.17 g/t within 4 metres at 0.89 g/t from 33 metres and 3 metres at 0.12 g/t at end-of-hole; 1-metre at 52.81 g/t within 51 metres at 1.41 g/t from 35 metres; 1-metre at 0.57 g/t within 8 metres at 0.31 g/t from 51 metres; and 2 metres at 0.61 g/t within 31 metres at 0.20 g/t. Diamond core drilling A three-hole HQ/NQ2 triple tube diamond core drill program was completed in November with a total of 943.8 metres drilled to a maximum downhole depth of 325.4 metres. Results so far indicate the potential for high-grade structures with quartz veining oriented sub-parallel to the predominant direction of RC and diamond drilling. Diamond hole YRLDD006 intersected 4 metres at 6.65 g/t from 59 metres including 1.68 metres at 11.94 g/t from 60.32 metres. Diamond hole YRLDD007, around 90 metres to the southeast of YRLDD006, intersected a fractured and brecciated quartz vein interspersed with coarse pyrite and minor chalcopyrite within a granite porphyry rock unit from 68.30–71.70 metres downhole – with assays pending. Results will be used to improve the geological interpretation of the high-grade zones or structures which are expected to be confirmed with RC drill testing in February. Malone prospect A total of three angled RC holes for 270 metres were completed at the Malone prospect to test for new shallow oxide and primary gold mineralisation as an immediate follow-up to significant mineralisation intersected in a 2020 aircore program including: 1 metre at 0.46 g/t within 10 metres at 0.18 g/t from 59 metres; and 1 metre at 5.44 g/t or 2 metres at 4.73 g/t within 9 metres at 1.39 g/t from 58 metres. The small program successfully confirmed mineralisation within oxidised material in all three holes, with highlights including: 1-metre at 1.01 g/t and 1-metre at 2.51 g/t within 5 metres at 0.97 g/t from 64 metres; and 2 metres at 0.50 g/t within 7 metres at 0.25 g/t from 68 metres. Star of Gordon A total of two angled RC holes for 210 metres were completed at the Star of Gordon prospect to test for new shallow oxide and primary gold mineralisation in the vicinity of historic workings. A number of significant intercepts were returned including 2 metres at 0.54 g/t from 48 metres within 5 metres at 0.42 g/t from 46 metres. Next steps Follow-up RC and aircore drilling programs to expand the known mineralisation are set to start on January 20 with over 20,000 metres of drilling planned across Gordons Dam, Malone and Star of Gordon prospects. The company anticipates the drill program will be completed in the current quarter. Geological interpretations and wireframing will also be compiled for inclusion in a maiden mineral resource estimate for the Gordons Dam prospect in order to progress feasibility studies and mining approval activities during this quarter.
