HBO’s new mystery show from the 'Get Out' creator asks what’s scarier: Racism or monsters?

The new show from Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions premiered on HBO on Sunday. Adapted by Misha Green (“Underground”) from a 2016 book of the same name, “Lovecraft Country” stars Jonathan Majors (“The Last Black Man in San Francisco”) as the young vet Atticus “Tic” Black, a voracious sci-fi bibliophile who decides to seek his missing father Montrose (Michael K. Williams), while accompanied by his travel agent uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) and an old friend, Letitia “Leti” Lewis (Jurnee Smollett).
