K-Pop group *GFRIEND* will disband, it has been confirmed.

The group are *a key part of K-Pop's international success story*, with the all-girl line up gaining fans across the globe.

Earlier this week it was confirmed that Source Music would not be renewing their contract, sparking speculation that GFRIEND would part company.

Each member subsequently placed individual statements on *social media app Wevers*e, which confirmed the project was at an end.

“Although GFRIEND has officially ended, this is not the end for us,” wrote the group’s leader Sowon. “Even though I’m slightly worried about going on a path I haven’t been on before, I will work hard to move forward while thinking of BUDDY, who are always supporting me.”

Each member was given space to express themselves, with Yuju, SinB and Umji thanking fans, while Eunha called her time with the group “the happiest and most beautiful six years”.

Fans, too, saluted GFRIEND - the group's fandom are called BUDDY, and ensured the statements reached a global audience.

It is thought that GFRIEND will officially disband on May 22nd, when their contract with Source Music comes to an end.
