Novavax vaccine effective in variant hot spots but less so with S. Africa strain

Clinical trials showed that a vaccine from the biotech company was effective in stopping infection in two hot spots. In the United Kingdom, it proved 89 percent effective, while in a less definitive South African trial, it was 49 percent effective.
