Villagers in Sundarbans have been munching on Bengal's favourite fish, the hilsa, for breakfast, lunch and dinner after fishermen netted scores of tonnes of the fish of a size that cannot be legally sold in Kolkata markets. Rules ban the sale of 'khoka ilish' or juvenile hilsa, so, the catch is being sold at throwaway prices near the rivers and the Bay of Bengal coastline that makes up much of the Sundarbans.
