The Mumbai Police recently discovered a hidden mephedrone manufacturing unit in a secluded location on a hillock in Shinde village. The shed, camouflaged as an industrial unit, contained 133kg of MDMA worth Rs 267 crore. The police were unable to find the shed until the arrest of the unit's caretaker. The village residents are upset about the illegal activity tarnishing their reputation. The unit is linked to Bhushan Patil, the brother of drug mafia don Lalit Patil. The secluded location and rarely used road provided the perfect cover for the operation.
