A 42-year-old woman from Jaitpur, India, became the first person to have her skin donated in AIIMS, New Delhi, after her family consented to the donation. The woman had suffered severe injuries from a fall and was brought to AIIMS for treatment, where she later passed away. Her husband agreed to donate her skin and eyes to help burn patients. This is the first skin donation in the city, as only AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital have skin banks in Delhi. The donated skin will be processed for six weeks to ensure it is infection-free and can be preserved for up to five years.
