Vishva Bharti University clarifies on row over Unesco plaques, says they're temporary

Visva-Bharati University in Kolkata clarified that the plaques recently installed to mark Santiniketan's UNESCO heritage status were temporary and would be replaced soon. The plaques had caused controversy as they omitted the name of the university's founder, Rabindranath Tagore. The exclusion outraged some members of the university community who protested against the insult to Tagore. The university spokesperson clarified that the plaques did not adhere to UNESCO's guidelines and would be replaced once the text was provided by the Archaeological Survey of India and UNESCO.
