Election Commission notice to Rahul for PM Modi jibes

The Election Commission on Thursday issued notice to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his recent “jebkatra (pickpocket)” and “panauti” jibes against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rajasthan, asking him to explain by Saturday 6pm why action should not be taken against him for having violated the model code of conduct as well as penal provisions. Addressing a public meeting on November 22 in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, the MP had alleged that just like two pickpockets work together to divert the attention of the victim before robbing him.
