Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan writes to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik seeking proper rehabilitation and compensation for 13,000 people displaced by the Rengali dam project in Angul and Deogarh districts. Pradhan alleges step-motherly attitude of the state government towards the displaced people. The Rengali dam project, built on the Brahmani river, has expanded irrigation facilities and hydropower generation in Odisha. However, the displaced families continue to be neglected even after five decades. Pradhan demands fulfilment of seven charter demands, including compensation, job opportunities, and redevelopment of temples.
