Arunachal Pradesh BJP leader abducted, killed by militants

Former Arunachal Pradesh legislator and BJP leader Yumsem Matey, who recently declared his candidacy for the upcoming April/May assembly polls in the easternmost hill state, was abducted and fatally shot on Saturday near the India-Myanmar border by suspected NSCN (Khaplang Yung Aung) militants. Armed men took the 54-year-old Matey from a social function around 2pm in Raho village of Lazu circle in Tirap district, security sources said. The NIA's investigation into Aboh's assassination revealed his opposition to extortion by NSCN (IM) in Tirap as the motive.
