Egypt revises trains' accident death toll .. only 19 perished

(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, March 27 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Minister of Health Dr. Hala Zayed said on Saturday deaths in yesterday's trains' accident amounted to 19.The minister revised yesterday's reports that the accident that happened in Sohaj, Upper Egypt, claimed more than 30 lives.Elaborating, Minister Zayed said 185 people were injured adding that there were also three bags filled with human body parts at three hospitals.The health minister, who was speaking at a news conference held by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouli, said the new figures she revealed "were the accurate ones." Among the injured there were a number of cases with bone fractures, some in coma due to head injuries and others suffering from internal bleeding.The accident happened yesterday when one train rammed into the other in the rear, pushing carriages off the track and resulting in heaps of twisted metal and smoldering wreckage.
