(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, April 3 (KUNA) -- World countries on Saturday followed up the relocation of 22 royal mummies from Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to their new place at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Egypt's first Islamic capital of Al-Fustat, south of Cairo.This unique and historic event took place amid a global media coverage from dozens of channels and intensive security measures on all routes surrounding the area.On his Twitter, Egypt's President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi called on all Egyptians and the whole world to follow up this "unique" event.He said: "I invite all Egyptians and the whole world to follow this unique event - evoking the spirit of the great ancestors who preserved the homeland and created a civilization in which all humanity takes pride - to keep on our path that we have started: the path of construction and humanity," the president said.The parade ceremony began from the Egyptian Museum towards the NMEC late Saturday and lasted for about 45 minutes. A 21-gun salute took place upon the arrival of the royal mummies at their new location.The parade includes the mummies of 18 kings and four queens in specially designed capsules dating back to varied Dynasties.The mummy of King Seqnenre was leading the parade; he was the warrior who led the liberation war against the Hyksos, then the kings came according to chronological order.In addition, the parade includes kings Seqenenre Taa, Ahmose I, Amenhotep I, Thutmose I, Thutmose II, Thutmose III, Seti I, Ramses II, Ramses III, Ramses IX as well as Queens Tiye, Meritamun, Nefertari and Hatshepsut.The 22 royal mummies in the parade were discovered in two hiding places; the first was unearthed in 1881 at Deir El-Bahari in Luxor's West Bank.A significant number of Egyptian and international dignitaries attended this historic event.
