Jordan- Youth, students stage protest against Israeli aggression in Jerusalem

(MENAFN - Jordan Times) AMMAN � Jordanian youth and students on Sunday took to the streets of Amman to voice their condemnation of attacks on Jerusalemites by Jewish settlers and Israeli forces.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the Israeli forces' attacks on Jerusalemites at the Damascus Gate and in separate areas in occupied East Jerusalem.The ministry's spokesperson, Daifallah Fayez, said that Israeli forces' attacks on Jerusalemites and the use of violence against them is unacceptable and a condemned violation.Settlers' attacks on Jerusalemites in the holy month of Ramadan is a "blatant" violation of religious beliefs and the legitimate, natural rights of Muslims to practise their rituals in peace, the Lower House said.Tajdeed, a national student group at the University of Jordan, organised the protest in Amman in support of the Jerusalemites and the city of Jerusalem, which it announced on social media under the hashtag #JerusalemIsNotAlone, which became a top trend across social media platforms.Tajdeed posted a tweet saying that the protests come 'out of our belief in the responsibility of answering the national call of duty, as well as in support of our Palestinian Arab citizens in occupied Jerusalem, who launched a glorious revolt in the face of the enemy's arrogance and practices aiming to uproot Jerusalemites and changing the city's reality'.Many Jordanian youth participated in the protest holding banners in support of Palestine and condemning Israeli settlers.Jordanians expressed their condemnation of the settlers' aggression against Jerusalemites during the holy month of Ramadan describing it as 'a flagrant violation' of religious freedoms.'I am protesting today in the streets under the sun while fasting to show my support for my fellow Palestinians who do not deserve what they go through, especially during the holy month,' a young Jordanian protestor, who preferred not to be named, told The Jordan Times.MENAFN25042021000028011005ID1101981148
