(MENAFN - Jordan News Agency) Amman, May 20 (Petra) -- Jordan on Thursday will remain under the impact of the hot and dry air mass, as mercury levels are expected to rise 7-9 degrees above annual average, bringing sizzling weather conditions across the Kingdom, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.Clouds are also forecast to appear at medium and high altitudes, with easterly to northeasterly moderate to active winds, blowing dust in the Badia, the JMD added.The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom today will range between 35 and 39 degrees Celsius, dropping at night to 23C or even 19C in the southern highlands. In the gulf city of Aqaba, it will be much hotter with mercury reaching a high of 41C a low of 28C.Toward Friday, the heatwave will start to subside in the western parts of the country, making significant drop in temperatures, so it will be fair in the hilly areas and the plains, and hot in other regions, with clouds at various altitudes, and northwesterly moderate to brisk winds, stirring dust in the desert, the JMD predicted.A further tangible dip in mercury is forecast on Saturday, becoming around seasonal average and making moderate weather in much areas of the Kingdom, while it will be relatively hot in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, with low-altitude clouds, the forecasters said.//Petra// WH20/05/2021 08:22:32MENAFN20052021000117011021ID1102102198
