(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, May 31 (KUNA) - 1949 -- The Amir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah arrives in Manama, Bahrain, on an official invitation by his counterpart Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al-Thani. 1966 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signs a decree appointing Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as the Crown Prince, based on the nomination of the National Assembly. 1969 -- The Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issues law 21/69 approving Kuwait's membership in the International Convention for the Unification of certain Rules relating to Bills of Lading, signed at Brussels on August 25, 1924 1994 -- The State of Kuwait joins the standing committee of the International Petroleum Council. 1998 -- The cabinet approved the central tenders draft law designed to plug loopholes in law 37/1964. 1998 -- Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor approves decision enabling expatriate workforce to transfer their permits to another employer after completing consecutive years of work. It would be for one time only. 2000 -- The State of Kuwait assumes the first senior post at the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consultancy. Eid Al-Deihani was appointed assistant secretary general of the organization. 2009 -- The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah opens first session of the 13th legislative term of the National Assembly. MP Jassem Al-Kharafi was chosen as Speaker and MP Abdullah Al-Roumi as Deputy Speaker. 2011 -- Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and Sierra Leone signs KD 4.2-million-loan agreement to develop three hospitals in the West African country. 2013 -- Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and Burkina Faso signs KD five-million-grant to fund agricultural projects in the West African country. 2013 -- Kuwait's Esteqlal Al-Azmi wins a senior position at an EU center for international arbitration.
