Arab League Sec. General warns of escalating tension in Jerusalem

(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, June 7 (KUNA) -- The Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmad Abu Al-Gheit warned on Monday of Israeli forces'' measures that resulted in escalation of tension in Jerusalem, and provoked Palestinians.Abu Al-Gheit, in a statement, warned from the moves of Israel's radical right groups, along with settlers'' communities, who are acting to enflame Palestinians'' sentiments, causing clashes, by organizing rallies and protests."I am monitoring with great concern the repressive action carried out by Israeli forces in Palestinian neighbourhoods in Jerusalem, especially in Al-Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood," he said."This resulted in exploding the whole situation last May, as the current period requires showing responsibility and self-restraint," he added.Abu Al-Gheit held the Israeli government responsible for any deterioration in the situation in the occupied territories.
