August set for highest rain surplus in 44 years

While the monsoon in July was 10% below normal in the country, August is set to be one of the wettest in decades. Rainfall during the month has been 25% surplus so far (till August 28), the highest deviation from normal in 44 years, with monsoon rains pounding central and south India in recent weeks.
