Villagers in southern China rescued a five-year-old boy drowning in a river after accidentally fell in it.

The video, filmed in the city of Putian in Fujian Province on January 9, shows the boy falling over a wall and dropping into the river after throwing a stone into it.

A woman walked past the area but did not notice the boy until another passerby came and spotted the boy struggling to keep his head above the water.

The woman then ran to check on the boy and screamed for help.

Nearby villagers heard the noise and ran to save the boy.

Fortunately, the boy was rescued and he was not injured seriously.
