The boys and girls club is working to make sure families in need -- can put food on the table.
Action news now anchor linda watkins bennet is live in chico from the first night of the drive-by supper giveaway the people who are running the new "club supper" say they want to make sure children don't go hungry.
They normally serve supper at their club sites, but with the coronavirus closing the doors.... that's not happening.
So until 5:30 tonight outside the clubhouse in chico... families can drive up and get meals for any child under the age of 18... regardless of whether they're club members.
Tonight... it's spaghetti.
This is also happening from five to six tonight outside the teen center in paradise.
The coordinators don't know what the response will be so to start...they made 100 meals... it's first come first serve... and they'll adjust the numbers as needed.
The people making and serving the food are following local and state safety rules... and wearing masks... this supper giveaway will take place every night this week... then the organizaers will assess how to expand, and continue it next week.
