Amid lockdown, IIT-Kanpur professor, students feed 500 poor kids daily

The IIT-Kanpur community is setting an example for the entire country amid the Covid-19-induced lockdown.

A professor and his students at the premier institute are helping feed poor children whose parents are struggling due to the lockdown.

Prof Laxmidhar Behera said that he and his students are able to prepare around 500 food packets daily, but if he receives help from the public, they will be able to ramp it up to 2,000 packets daily.

India was locked down for three weeks starting from March 25 to 'break cycle of Coronavirus infection'.

The subsequent cessation of various commercial activities led to severe hardships for the poor.
