County executive anthony picente said that governor cuomo's executive order states that golf courses are not an essential service and should be closed.
So we reached out to empire state development.
They sent us statement saying.... golf courses are open, under the same logic as parks and other open spaces although it is important to understand that "essential" is not the same as "business as usual."
Golf courses must enforce social distancing and follow doh cleaning/sanitation guidelines, and their restaurants/bars must abide by the no on-premise dining restriction (they may allow take-out or delivery).
I just spoke to the county executive moments ago and he says it preposterous that a golf course is an essential business.
Expect to hear more tomorrow during his press conference tomorrow at 3pm.
