To find ways to keep students learning.

..

In this week's skilled to work segment,,, w-t-v-a's erin wilson shows us how tupelo students are learning from a distance... std ."

The pandemic is setting a new normal for students across the tupelo area.

One tupelo students tells me although she's in the comfort of her own home she there's nothing like a tradition classroom.

"what really should take two years we did in ten days."

School administration created an online school system...it's called distance learning.

Students are now watching lessons on wtva and completing assignments using google classroom.

"it's pretty much kind of better than school."

But second grader lennox coon says she couldn't learn without the help of her new teachers... her parents..

"they help me a lot on coding, it's very fun of course."

And the program is even testing the parents..

"the one thing that shocked me though is that they're so advanced, in all the things they're doing nowadays it's like i didn't even do coding in high school."

And unlike having one teacher in a classroom... lennox's father tells me learning from home takes a team... "grandaddy and grammy, i've got to throw their names out there they've been amazing helping her with her english, math, reading, and all kinds of stuff so it's been a big family effort."

Lennox tells me although learning from home is fun she misses going to school.

"my friends and mrs. papis, that's my teacher, and my reading teacher and my science teacher and my music teacher, all of them."

But according to tupelo communication assistant greg ellis this is the only way to keep students on track..
