Keeneland donates merchandise proceeds to help hungry

Keeneland is giving back to the community through its 2020 merchandise sales.

Orders from the governor and the president have made it hard on businesses across the country.

Keeneland is one of those that have been affected.

But now the company is selling its spring '20 meet souvenirs..for charity.

#### as businesses began shutting down and more people were told to stay home... keeneland realized they wouldn't be able to support the community the way it normally does so... they began looking for an opportunity to still engage with the community.

That's when the nourish lexington initiative came along and wanted to serve the entire community in a way that is much needed during this time.

Kyle cassin, director of retail, says in order to fully support this initiative keeneland thought of their online business that is open all year round and decided to help bridge the gap between what is usually a celebratory time to what is a strange time for everyone.

Sot: kyle cassin: "we have a lot of seasonal staff that we support during the race meets that we look forward to seeing in april and october and we've had to make adjustments with those individuals as well and it's hard.

It's just, it's so different from anything anybody could have expected but we're doing our best for everybody involved to try to make something special out of this situation."

While people are normally enjoying horse racing and everything that comes with it around this time of year... cassin says they wanted to take the opportunity to still bring keeneland home.

By supporting nourish lexington they are helping provide food and job opportunities for the community.

Cassin says this is shining light on what is sort of a dark time for the area and it's something everybody can be proud to participate in.
