Picente: Facebook map 'irresponsible'

Facebook has released a map showing self-reported COVID-19 symptoms by county.

Picente says this misrepresents Oneida County.

Today...county executive anthony picente referenced a new facebook data map that implies oneida county has the highest percentage of coronavirus cases in upstate new york.

The social network released a map monday showing "self-reported covid-19 symptoms", county by county in the u.s. picente says there was no scientific data used in the survey...and he says that some symptoms that people have may be similar but not covid-19 positive.

If you look at the number of negative cases we have in oneida county at 1680, those were cases that had similar symptoms to what has been covid 19, i do think its irresponsible for facebook to use that kind of data and state that oneida county has the highest when quite frankly our infection rate is down and the hospitalization rate is one of the lowest as well.
