Is inching towards 55-hundred cases of coronavirus since state health officials began monitoring on march 11th the mississippi state department of health this morning reported 281 new cases of coronavirus.

That put the statewide total at more than 54-hundred cases the latest report by the state said there are 8 new deaths, bringing the state total now to 209 lowndes and calhoun counties are among the counties with those new deaths.

You break down each part of our viewing area: monroe county has become a hot spot for the virus with 109 cases confirmed.

Another hot spot: lee county with 66 cases.

Now we move on to the golden triangle area oktibbeha county has 45 cases other hot spots includes winston county with 37 and lowndes county with 36.

Heading back north west in the oxford area, lafayette county with 81 cases confirmed.
