Reeves announced this afternoon.... that he is replacing the state's "shelter in place" order with a new "safer at home".

The new order goes into effect monday morning and will remain in effect until monday, may 11th at 8 a.m.

" it urges all mississippians to stay at home except for essential travel, thats still the safest behavior.

I continue to ask you please stay at home as much as you possibly can..."

The new order continues the ban on all non-essential gatherings of 10 or more.

And allows most stores to reopen if they follow the guidelines from health officials.

Non-essential businesses will not be allowed to reopen, including theaters, hair salons, gyms, or tattoo parlors.

Those businesses can still sell supplies by phone or online.

Bars, schools, and casinos will remain closed.

Restaurants will still be limited to drive thru and take out service only.
