Biloxi mayor talks plans to reopen the city
The city of biloxi is one step- closer to "business as usual."
As the statewide coronavirus- number continues to - rise, - harrison county has - comparitively seen a steady - decline in cases since april- 14th, leading to more talk of - re- - opening biloxi.
- currently, biloxi mayor andrew- "fofo" gilich and the bilox city- council are evaluating each - sector - restaurants, - hair salons, casinos, and churc- organizations - - to find out how those employees- can return to "some form of business" at this time.
Mayor gilich says we're not - there yet, but he's hopeful - we'll get there safely and- logically by peak tourism seaso- on the coast.
- - "it's critical that we open.
Fo the citizens- too, but for our tourism- industry.
For our gaming- industry.
The gaming industry - benefits the whole county and - each city within the county.
So- there's a lot at stake, - not just for biloxi, but for th- whole county and especially the- state.
We've got 8- casinos in biloxi.
We've got- 6,000 hotels rooms in biloxi.
- we're gonna be the- first responders, so we need- some consideration and- understanding with the- whole type of intersective- industry.
Our opportunity is no- to do it the right way.
- the rest of the country is gonn- be looking forward to a place - thats safe and gonna- be able to have a good time, an- that's our plan to make that- happen.
