Welcome back..as you know, saturdays are for the seniors here on fox 55..each week, we're recognizing local senior athletes whose seasons were cut short or canceled due to the covid-19 pandemic..

Tonight, petar hood honors one of the best basketball players to ever suit up at norwell high school, will geiger..

Narr: will geiger grew up dreaming of an opportunity to dawn the navy and gold for norwell high school, just like his childhood heros..will geiger: "my mind goes straight to the state team, 2012.

Caleb featherston, kyle fillman, josh vanmeter, i believe he was playing on the varsity team.

They all seemed like really good guys and good basketball players, and always wanted to be like those guys."

Narr: geiger was just a fourth-grader at that time.

And if you had told him then that he would go on to become the program's second all-time leading scorer, and its all-time leading rebounder, i'm guessing he wouldn't have believed ya.

But that's exactly what happened..?nat pop- dunk, crowd cheers?

Geiger: "it was four of the most memorable and life playing at norwell."narr: the most the four years came in geiger's final go-round in ossian.

As a senior, he averaged over 19 points and 11 rebounds per game while leading the knights to 22 wins, an ne-8 title, and their first sectional championship since 2014..geiger: "i think we were able to come together and really just build off each other, and share strengths that we each needed.

Just made it as special and it was."

Narr: but if you ask geiger what he's most proud of as he looks back on his high school career, it's not the points or the rebounds, or even the championships... it's the attitude, the character, and the work ethic..geiger: "during those four years, i tried to always work the hardest.

Either come in early or stay late to continue working on my game.

I did my best to be respectful and just play my hardest on the court."

Narr: and in doing so, geiger became a great role model to a whole generation of young fans who dream of wearing that norwell jersey just like he did...geiger: "i just hope it brings another class of younger kids up that want to play even harder, do even better and be more succesful."

Geiger is signed to play basketball at grace college, where he says he plans on earning
