Did a story on a herkimer police officer who says he's opening his gym that he owns despite the restrictions in place.

Since then, another gym owner in herkimer county reached out to us saying she's been getting messgaes from people asking if she plans on doing the same thing.

.

News channel 2's brent kearney spoke to the owner today.

Fitness farmacy owner krista kozma says she's been getting phone calls on when they're reopening since our story on herkimer police officer, and owner of herkimer's revamp fitness, jason krippen, aired on monday.

.

None .

None "within seconds, honestly its the reason that i found out.

We had members calling me saying he are you going to be opening and i was confused because i hadn't heard anything."

Since then, the story has been picked up by the new york post and even gotten attention from the govenor's office.

In a statement to the new york post, a representive from cuomo's office calling crippen's decision reckless.

As a fellow gym owner, krista says she understands krippen's position , but says she didn't understand his announcement.

"i could understand his frustration, but i was confused by his behavior as far him forcefully trying to open."

Krippen spoke to me earlier this week after announcing he was opening.

He said he would be opening under strict social distancing guidelines, including heavy cleaning.

"one thing we are going to do is have posted guidelines throughout the city.

With the department of health guidelines that you have all seen.

Which includes washing your hands keeping the six foot distance.

If you dont feel good stay home.

He says he's spacing out machines, employees need to wear masks, and markers on the floor.

The department of health would also require all of those entering his gym on monday to wear a mask.

Krista says working out in a mask could be a challenge.

"if you go anywhere in a mask within three minutes i cant stand it.

So to do high intensity workouts.

I have always said that even when we have to look at the stipulations.

Because if it isn't going to get our main goal, then there's no point then there's no point in opening on that day just to open.

I did reach out to jason through facebook and he declined to comment on camera citing his dissatisfaction with our story that aired earlier this week.
