Terrifying moment furious coronavirus patient breaks out of isolation ward in Indonesia

This is the terrifying moment an elderly man who has being held in quarantine with coronavirus symptoms tried to force his way out of the hospital.

The incident unfolded when the patient was being moved to an isolation room at the Tongas Regional General Hospital, Probolinggo Regency, East Java.

The video shows two medics desperately trying to hold the door closed before the patient overpowered them and burst through.

The man, wearing only his underwear, looked angry and ranted using the traditional regional dialect of Probolinggo.

"I'm not wrong, why do I want to be imprisoned?

I don't want to do this," he yelled.

Anang Budi Yoelijanto, spokesman for the Corona Handling Task Force in Probolinggo District, confirmed that the incident happened at the Tongas Regional General Hospital.

She said that the man had been a referral patient from another hospital as they suspected he had the deadly COVID-19 virus.

Anang added: ''Although the patient managed to get out of the room, he was secured shortly after.

He was placed in the health centre for observation.'' Indonesia is one of the countries worst affected by the coronavirus in Southeast Asia with 14,749 cases and 1,007 deaths as of Tuesday May 12.
