Nursing home staff from Worth and Cerro Gordo counties are being tested

Sits at 388./// today marked the first day nursing home employees in cerro gordo and worth counties can be tested for coronavirus by the state of iowa's strike force team.

Kimt news 3's nick kruszalnicki joins us live from the north iowa events center where that testing is happening now.

Testing out here began at ten this morning and as you can see, folks are still driving in to get their tests done before the site closes for the evening at six.

When i arrived at around one this afternoon?

There were people lined up outside the door of the all seasons building waiting to get tested.

Once inside... those tests were administered by state workers dressed head to toe in ??e.

The iowa national guard are deployed here at the site, providing traffic control and logistics for the testing.

Earlier i spoke with staff sergeant robert fix..

Who says being deployed for a pandemic is unusual for them, but it is we're mainly spread out across the state as sites need to be set up we go to where they're needed to be.

This is what most of us who joined the guard, we joined to serve our state and our country, so we enjoy doing what we're doing.

I did reach out to the governor's office to see just how many people have been tested so far today?

I am still waiitng to hear back on those numbers.
