Voting lawsuit
Voting lawsuit
wants Voter ID out, mail in all the time

Was filed today, to overturn the recent i-d law..

The group who filed it, also want kentucky voters to have the option to cast mail-absentee ballots for the general election in november.

The federal lawsuit claims that state election laws requiring photo ids and limiting absentee voting put people at greater risk of exposure to the virus.

Currntley voters in the state can vote by absentee ballot in the primary election to avoid spreading the coronavirus... but the lawsuit argues the threat will still be around for the general election.

Governor andy beshear vetoed the voter id law earlier this year.

Here's what governor beshear has to say about the lawsuit.

46:51 "i vetoed that law because i don't think we should be making it harder to vote, and that's a part of the lawsuit so i'm not going to oppose their attept to overturn law because i believe people have a right to vote."

47:04 --butted-- " i think we ought to be able to do no excuse absentee voting at anypoint, at any election.

I think we can monitor and prevent fraud, at this point that we can apply and do so many differnt things online."

Governor beshear today also reminding people who want to vote by absentee ballot in the june primary election that the state's new absentee ballot application portal at... go-vote-k-y- dot-com.

Is up and running...that's where you can request an application for it.

The last day to apply for a ballot... is june 15th.

The primary election is june 23rd.
