J.C. Penney in New Hartford and Rome to close

Penney locations in New Hartford and Rome will close as the company tries to stabilize its finances under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

At sangertown square mall is going to close.

Its been a staple since sangertown square openedi.

The big box store survived a lot over the years but the chain has filed for bankrupcty protection during the coronavirus pandemic..and today revealed the list of stores that will close...and sangertown mall and the rome location are on the list.

Its your top story on this thursday night.

154 stores are expected to close this summer anaccording e is a hearing set for june 11th to consider the bankruptcy proposal...if its agreed upon, the going out of business sales could start right after and they are expected to last 10-16 weeks.

Along with the sangertown mall site...the rome jc penney on erie boulevard west is closing and the store in destiny usa in syracuse.

Not on the list, the oneonta store, that will remain open for now.
