Now to the latest coronavirus numbers in the state.

Fs txt bullets:no coronavirus in kentucky new deaths: 5 total deaths: 477 new cases: 245 total cas ... according to governor andy beshear... there have been five new deaths from the coronavirus in the state.

Our total number of deaths is now at 477.

The governor is also reporting 245 new cases.

The state now has 11,788 confirmed cases total.

Woodford county has seen a spike in covid-19 patients.

Over the last 4 days... 16 new cases have been confirmed..

And have been tracked back to a sunday service at church and a memorial day party.

Abc 36's austin miller explains that the county was preparing for a surge in cases..

And reports that it's hoping to lower that number..

By bringing on two health investigators.

Contact tracing.

It's something woodford county has been doing already..

But now..

There's more hands on deck.

James kay trt 14 "as we saw the cases progress and the state rolled out their contact tracing plan, we prepared to bring on contact tracers here at our local health department to help with any increase in cases."

The two new positions will be paid from state dollar..

But will work for the county health department in tracking the spread of the disease.

James kay trt 09 "they will isolate the individuals, who are positive.

They will make sure that everyone who has been in contact with will be able to know about it and be safe."

The new investigators will start training this week.

Judge kay doesn't know the specific background of the two investigators..

But says it will take some time the investigators to get up to speed.

James kay trt 11 "there's going to be a little bit of a learning curve and a learn as you go, but the basic demands of it are that you have the ability to connect with them and talk to them."

With summer almost here..

Judge kay says the spike in cases is a reminder that people still need to practice proper social distancing.

James key trt 11 "we know that there is a way to prevent this.

We don't have to shut down our economy anymore.

We just have need people to do the right thing.

We just need people to wear masks when possible and a keep a social distance."
