Small business owners in Starkville who were affected by the coronavirus pandemic applied for the state grant Thursday.

Here in starkville said the grant will keep them up and running among uncertainty.

Mark welch- owner, 1883 smokehouse 0:00-0:09 once the clock struck 12, restaurant owner mark welch wasted no time in applying for grant money.

He said business at 1883 smokehouse is slowly getting back to normal but the state grant will truly put everything back into place.

"try to keep our local employees hired and bring back more people."

On wednesday governor tate reeves announced business owners can apply today for state grants.

State lawmakers set aside 60 million dollars for businesses that were forced to close because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The owner of l-a green, lauren ann cooper, said things are tough but the money could help her pull through.

"right now things are hard.

This grant money will be great.

Every little bit helps right now.

Just with like uncertainty of where we will be next week or next month, i'm just very thankful for that."
