It's important to make sure that you are allowing your body to recover so you can continue your fitness routine and avoid injury whether you're exercising outside or at home.

Jamie Hess, fitness expert and influencer, joins us on Good Day Kentucky to talk about her post home workout recovery methods.

Back off a little bit ... sunday, monday and to some c1 3 speaker 1: welcome back, everyone.

Speaker 1: welcome back, everyone.

Whether you are able to exercise outside or doing your workouts at home, it's still important to make sure that you are allowing your body to recover so you can continue your fitness routine and avoid injury.

Jamie hess, fitness expert and influencer, has a tremendous passion for fitness and healthy living.

And she joins us today to tell us more.

Welcome to the show, jamie.

Jamie hess: thank you for having me.

Speaker 1: now, let's go ahead and get right to it.

Why is it important to keep up a fitness routine during sheltering in place?

Jamie hess: so i hear this every single day from my followers at nycfitfam.

People are stuck; they have felt like they've become a couch potato during this time of quarantine, and it's really hard to get back in the groove.

And i get it.

My biggest piece of advice is to start somewhere and don't go crazy.

You don't have to be in a seven-day-a-week fitness program by tomorrow to try to undo the damage, right?

Just starting somewhere.

It's been proven that even 20 minutes a day of physical activity can help boost your mood, your overall wellbeing, and also increase energy levels.

So even just getting out and taking a brisk walk, for instance, can burn up to 250 calories in an hour.

So just getting out there and starting somewhere.

I'm so gladg i have been exercisith covid and being coopp ican't even tell you.

Anduscle pain and stiffrom working arounn pains that com people geht?

Andu don't want to feel likeke to ke.

This is a topical pa called arn.

O plant-based, it's odorless that sometimes you get with thoation.

So it's reaund the house.

I know i'm a bumps and bruises all the time, th exercise, what else can we do fo immunity?

Jamie hess: really glad you asked, because it not just about fitness.

Of course, diet is just as important.

So paying attention to what we put in our bodies right now and not getting kind of hung up on that junk food is the best thing we can do, and also taking our supplements.

So objective immune & wellness gummies are a favorite of mine right now.

It has all of the immune boosters like elderberry, echinacea, vitamin c that you're going to need to stay well.

Also, objective wellness has a product called fast asleep.

That is a chocolaty supplement with gaba and saffron that's going to help you fall asleep and stay asleep.

So you can find that at objectivewellness.

Com and use a code selfcare25 for 25% off.

And while we're talking about sleep, i just want to say that tranquility blankets are the hot, new weighted blanket out there right now.

An affordable price point, it's starting at $50 and you can find these at target and walmart.

Speaker 1: nice, nice.

And now we're talking about our sleep, our bodies, but we should also be taking care of our mental state too.

How can we relax our mind at the end of the day?

Jamie hess: yeah.

I'm glad you asked.

So, really it's about taking as much time and care in your mental wellness regimen as you do in your physical wellness regimen.

So i mentioned this weighted blanket; the reason this is all the rage is because it really is about ... it's kind of like getting a hug from a friend.

It really is about taking that time and that space for yourself.

I'm finding at the end of a long day of working at home, it's very hard for me to draw a line where work ends and rest begins.

Right?

So having something like this on hand where you can really take your own time and focus on self-care as part of wellness is key.

Speaker 1: awesome.

And where can we go for more information, jamie?

Jamie hess: you can follow me at nycfitfam on instagram.

I share tips and tricks like this every day.

Speaker 1: awesome.

Thank you so much for being with us today.

We really
