A father takes his son for a ride on their pet tortoise.

The man, named Somsak, was exercising his giant Sulcata tortoise, named Pee Yuk, in the family's garden Nakhon Nayok province, central Thailand on May 26.

The two-year-old boy was able to sit on the giant shell and ride the placid animal.

Somsak said: ''They're both safe and it's good exercise for Pee Yuk.

I want to my son grow up close to animals with love and respect for them.'' The Sulcata tortoise is a species of African spurred tortoise, which is the third-largest species of mainland tortoise in the world.

It has become a popular pet because of its tame nature.
