Victim's family says they waited for 17-years for Purkey's execution

As we mentioned at the top of this broadcast... one family waited 17 years for this day.

William and olivia long traveled from the kansas city area to witness purkey's execution.

They are jennifer long's father and stepmother.

William said the execution won't bring them any closure.

But it was important for them to be there nonetheless.

I've been dreaming of this for 17 years.

A long wait... a long wait.

It's something i think about everyday.

My life hasn't been the same since."
