I'm tucker sargent.

Shelby coates will join us shortly.

Our top story tonight at 6: macon-bibb residents gather tonight for a "macon deserves better" rally.

Organizers say they want their voices to be heard.

41nbc's peyton lewis has more.

0:32 0:52 1:18 "we've pretty much been effectively shut out of these meetings so while they broadcast them live on facebook they don't accept any input."

Organizers of the macon deserves better rally say they feel as if their voices are not being heard.

Since march 27 of this year, bibb county commissioners have been hosting virtual meetings over zoom and broadcasting them on facebook live.

Lead rally organizer, jonathan fisher says he made plans to address the commissioners after believing his voice was silenced.

"i want to hold these commissioners accountable.

I got mad and upset because they are not letting people exercise their amendment right to free speech and speaking about what they want."

Jess dominy, assistant organizer, says that the macon deserves better group is focused on inviting the commissioners into critical conversations with the community.

"we'd like to be able to see them be more proactive in trying to engage the community before they cast their vote."

Constituents have been asked to email their public comments or constructive criticisms to the board of commissioners.
