DA: Woman sentenced after coughing on people in Anderson store

One Shasta County woman was sentenced to almost a year after she pleaded to an assault case where she allegedly coughed on people.

Karen, how serious of a crime is this sort of behavior?

The district attorney's office says it's a misdeameanor.

((take mugshot)) people say tammy baldwin got up close to people in the anderson safeway and coughed on them.

Police don't know why she did this---but people i spoke to tell me it's crazy there are people who would do something like this.

I went to the safeway and found -you can't go in without a mask on.

I asked management if they remeber anything about what happened--- but they didn't seem to recall anything.

That is wrong from every pint of view.

I mean we all grew up knowing if we're going to cough to turn our heads, put our hands over, you know.// (charmain gomez hits at 15 seconds)i think the pandemic has been politicized and so people feel like they have to act a certain way based on their political stance but you know, really it's a public health crisis, so everyone should be covering up.

Just this year--- anderson police say they have been called out to over 30 calls concerning baldwin.

Baldwin was ordered not to have any other contact with businesses in the anderson area.
