Starkville Fire Department asking for prayers, firefighter battling COVID-19

A Starkville firefighter is battling the coronavirus, and the fire chief is asking for prayers for his department and firefighters everywhere.

For the coronavirus virus.

He is the third person to test positive at the station since the beginning of the pandemic.

Wtva alexis jones spoke with the department's chief about what he and his crew are doing to keep each other safe..

We deal with this stuff everyday.

No matter what we're still going to do our jobs" fire chief charles yarbrough said now that people from his department got the coronavirus, it's pushed everyone to be more cautious.

(how?) but he said three fire fighters still tested positive despite their attempts (to what?) (is anyone else getting tested or on quarantine.) "even with the precautions we're taking it still like no matter what you do you can still get it" employees disinfect the station and trucks twice a day.

The chief encourages everyone to wear their masks and gloves.

But chief charles said social distancing isn't easy to do when they are answering calls.

Uh when even on the trucks we're so close together on the trucks" chief charles said his folks are doing their best to stay safe.

But him and his team will not let this pandemic stop them from doing their jobs.
