Vehicle crashed into Tupelo Waffle House

At breaking news out of tupelo... a vehicle crashed into a waffle house early this morning -- causing a lot of damage... it's the location on south gloster street... wtva's sydeny darden in there now and joins us live... im here at the waffle house on south gloster.

Employees are still picking up the broken remains of what used to be the front of their store.

You can see there is still quite a bit of shattered glass on the ground.

The good news is no one got hurt but employees say the driver was a customer and was acting a bit weird before he drove through the front of the store.

One employee told me the driver came in to get something to eat a few hours ago and has some erratic behavior.

He says he thinks the driver was under the influence of either drugs or alcohol.

Employees say after he left, the driver got in his car and accidentally put the car in drive instead of reverse and came through the front window of the restaurant.

The police arrived a short time later.

But employees say the driver took off with police chasing after him.
