A principal shares the precautions Columbus schools are taking to keep students safe from the coronavirus

Tomorrow for students in columbus.

Today -- teachers and staff spent the day getting ready for the students' return.

Wtva alexis jones is in columbus with a look at how administrators are working to keep everyone safe at school.

When students will arrive at school on thursday, staff will give them temperature checks.

Staff will require all students to clean their hands with sanitizer.

Sale elementary principal, aaron lee said students will be safe in the building because of the safety features put in place.

"i believe we really have a solid plan in place.

We've been working for months on this.

We are excited about getting the kids back in the building."

Once students are inside the classrooms, they will be spread apart.

A maximum of 15 kids will be in each room to ensure social distancing.

Teachers will give students their own supplies.

Everyone will have to wear face masks throughout the day.

Principal lee said this is the best way to protect students and teach them effectively.

"we missed a lot of time last year."

" we got to get some work done and we can't do it without the students in the building" principal lee said every classroom and hallway has hand sanitizer in each corner.

Custodians will also put up signs to let staff and students know after they sanitize a room.

Staff will serve lunch and breakfast inside classrooms. the lunchroom will be a safe zone for distant learning students to take tests.

Principal lee said he understands the concerns parents may have about bringing their children in.

"everyone loves their child and wants their child to be safe and protected."

Tag: starting tomorrow, staff will split students into two groups.

The groups will go to class on alternating days.
