Chattanooga fire crews say a house fire near east brainerd this morning was intentionally set.

News 12's winston reed tells this story through the eyes of a young boy, who witnessed everything outside his window.

It was a busy friday morning for chattanooga firefighters as they battled a blazing house fire off east brainerd.

Crews arrived on scene near explorer lane but had to travel through the woods off southwood drive to reach the home.

Luis reyes couldn't take his eyes off the smoke that errupted in the woods.

"i was like 'umm what is that?

Mom what is that?'" at the same time chattanooga police to the same location because of reports of a possible armed person.

Neighbors and cfd said they heard gunshots near the blazing home.

Cpd says it was possibily ammunition or paint exploding inside the home.

"i saw them putting him on the stretcher, rolling him on the stretcher, moving him to the ambulance from my bedroom window right there.

Chattanooga fire advanced to the home to put out the firethat spread to the surround woods.

The house is now a total loss.

The man was tranported to the hospital for medical examination.

Ems checked the vitals of several firefighters on scene.

The casue of the fire is under investigation.
