Vote set for Schuyler water project

A referendum vote for the proposed formation of the east Schuyler water district took place Tuesday.

Formation of the east schuyler water district itakinge open from 8 this morning until 8 tonight at the schuyler town offices.

Only property owners are eligible to vote.

By now, voters in the proposed district should have been mailed all the voting information...includi ng how to vote absentee.

The proposed east schuyler district goes down route 5.

A water transmission line would bring water from the mohawk valley water authority to schuyler.... the village of ilion.... and the towns and villages of frankfort and herkimer.

If this passes...those who don't want the water will still have to pay for it.

If property owners vote down the water district& the transmission line will still run through schuyler, but there will be no distribution lines.

Property owners within the district would have to pay a yearly fee.
