Henderson County Girls Soccer Off To A Dominant Start Despite Season Being Delayed

A season ago..

The henderson county girls soccer team claimed a second region championship..

Making the colonels have high expectations for this year.

However..

At one point this season..

The team wasn't even sure if they would get to play due to covid-19.

Now..

Having started the season..

The girls at henderson county have posted 4 consecutive shutouts..

And they tell andrew garcia they have no plans of slowing down.

Kentucky high school fall sports start dates were pushed back due to covid-19, and for the henderson county girls soccer team, the colonels had to adjust quickly.

It was definitely a lot harder playing with all this going on.

But i think that doesn't really affect our team i think that we can still play the same way that we're used to playing.

It was pretty hard, i would say we've done a lot better than we normally have in the past seasons but, i think that we're all working together and figuring it out.

Despite the fast start to the season, henderson county is firing on all cylinders as the colonels have not lost to a team from kentucky and even posted back to back 10-0 wins.

We've been a team this year that has three or four different goal scorers and at the high school level it's really tough to stop.

As we get going further and further a lot of these kids have been around the block once or twice and we have a couple all state kids returning that have really been producing right from the first whistle.

It's been really great for me as a coach because we have a lot of options to throw into games so short practice time has been really difficult but for us, having a lot of upperclassmen has really been key for us in getting going this year.

Maggie sauer- defense is key, but offensively we really just need to score and so we do a lot of drills that help us learn to pass the ball through defenders and just passing is rally the key for us because it can help us lead to shutouts and win games.

Henderson county knows that the season could end abruptly at any time, but that isn't stopping the team from trying to achieve its goals.

Maggie sauer- our ultimate goal is to go as far as we can but if we can't go as far, just know that we can play the best games that we play.
