The mais season is winding down, the second to last game of the season for the private school squads.

Tonight in columbus and big time rivalry game between two 5-2 teams went down and our rhea thornton was there.

Rhea?

I'm here at heritage academy.

The patriots hosted starkville academy tonight for a district match-up.

Both teams came into tonight 5-2... and it showed.

The score was neck and neck at half...18-14 vols.

But it was all heritage in the second half... mack howard slings a deep ball to mitchell woodard who makes a great snag near the starkville academy sidelines... which set the patriots up for this.... howard scrambles... scans... and finds harris gunter who walks into the endzone untouched to give heritage the lead 21-18... the vols look to answer...but on a bad snap the ball is loose and heritage lands on top of it... the patriots were able to finish out tonight with the win at home 27-18.

Big district win tonight for the patriots and on their senior night... they advance to 6-2 while starkville academy falls to 5-3... heritage will be back on the road next week against washington and the vols will take on jackson academy at home.
